Protection Dog Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are Protection Dogs Safe?

We take great pride in selecting only the finest, top-quality canines that are temperamentally and environmentally sound. Each canine candidate is subjected to a rigorous testing phase prior to being selected as one of our dogs, and only the safest, most capable canines make the cut. Canines of this quality are extremely rare, but they are what we require.

2. What kind of dog breeds do you work with?

Our vast canine experience allows us to use numerous different types of canines for our program. Typical breeds we use are the German Shepherd, Dutch Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Giant Schnauzer, and Doberman.

3. Why are your protection-trained dogs so expensive?

The canines we sell are some of the finest canines on the planet. That might sound crazy but it truly is difficult to find the type of dog that can “do it all.” We are on a constant search for the right canines for our programs and this process takes time, money and effort.

4. Where do your dogs come from?

We have been in the dog business for over 20 years. This time was spent developing relationships with people we can trust. Many dogs come from our European contacts. So to answer that question, we will go anywhere in the World to find the right canine for you.

5. How do I start the process of owning one of your dogs?

You can contact us by phone or email. Please understand that we do not sell 100’s of dogs per year and that we strive to honor our mantra “Quality, Not Quantity.” We look forward to serving you and your family with a new level of personal security and a sense of well-being.

6. Which are the best family protection dogs?

When it comes to what are the best family guard dogs, the following four popular protection dog breeds are among the top choices for both home and family protection:

  1. Belgian Malinois – Highly intelligent and quick to respond.
  2. German Shepherd – Loyal and naturally protective.
  3. Dutch Shepherd – Obedient and fearless.
  4. Rottweilers – Strong and confident.

If you're wondering which dog is best for home security for you, let's connect. With an expert assessment, we will help you find the perfect canine companion for your family’s needs.

7. How long does it take to train a protection dog?

Priority One’s family-friendly protection dogs receive the world’s best training in our home, integrated with our own family. Once the dog is ready, our delivery process includes a 3 to 4-day in-person family training.

This ensures a smooth transition for your new protection dog into your household, teaching your family how to bond with them and, if necessary, how to utilize their protection abilities.

8. How much does a protection dog cost?

Priority 1 Canine’s elite protection dogs are priced between $105,000.00 and $125,000.00 with the Early Detection Warning System (EDWS) unless listed otherwise. Specific training is extra and determined on a case-by-case basis.

The recommended multi-day in-home training with our trainers, along with travel expenses for both the dog and trainers, as well as all necessary equipment, are not included in the price and are covered by the client.
