Priority 1 Canine vs Canine Protection International (CPI)

Short answer: Canine Protection International (CPI) and Priority 1 Canine make the same promises on paper. Twelve placements a year. The owner delivers. Lifetime support. The difference is where the dog comes from, how many breeds you can choose from, how long the handover lasts, and whether the price is in writing. Everything below comes from CPI's site and ours as of November 3, 2026. Start with trained protection dogs if you want ours first.

Where the dog was born and raised

CPI says every dog is born in Europe, hand selected there, then trained at a ten acre property with two homes north of Dallas, Texas. CPI was founded in 1996 and says it has delivered thousands of dogs over three decades.

Priority 1 Canine selects finished adults from thousands of candidates and finishes them in real American homes before placement. Wade Morrell evaluates every dog himself after twenty years of United States military and law enforcement K9 work. The company is based in Obetz, Ohio, and places twelve dogs a year. Twelve is the number both companies publish. Only one of them also claims thousands.

Breeds: two versus five

CPI sells German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois only. Its site says Dobermans, Rottweilers, and other protective breeds do not meet its standard for a protection dog.

Priority 1 Canine places German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dobermans, Dutch Shepherds, and Rottweilers. The breed is chosen for the home, not for the trainer's preference. A family that wants a Doberman or a Rottweiler has one option on this page.

Delivery: three days versus until it is done

CPI's owner delivers the dog and works with the family at home. CPI says that within three days you gain the confidence, handling experience, and control to begin life together.

Wade Morrell delivers every Priority 1 Canine dog himself and stays until the dog is integrated into your home and routine. There is no fixed day count. The handover ends when the dog is working for you, not when the calendar says so. Lifetime support follows.

Price, in writing

CPI publishes no price on its homepage or its dogs for sale page. You learn the number after a private consultation.

Priority 1 Canine placements are $150,000. It is on every page of this site, including the protection dogs for sale page and the cost page. You know the number before you call.

Who should choose CPI

Choose CPI if you want a German Shepherd or Malinois born in Europe, you are comfortable with a three day handover, and you prefer a company that publishes client names, cities, and Google reviews so you can read them before you call.

Why you will not find our client reviews online

Priority 1 Canine does not ask clients for Google reviews and does not publish client names, faces, homes, or dogs. Our clients buy a protection dog because they value privacy. Publishing their identity would undo part of what they paid for. References are given privately by introduction. Ask Wade. When you see a company post client photos and named reviews, it is telling you how it treats privacy.

Who should choose Priority 1 Canine

Choose Priority 1 Canine if you want a finished adult that was proven in an American home, a choice of five breeds, Wade Morrell in your house until the dog is integrated, a price in writing before the first call, and a company that keeps your name out of its marketing.
