Personal Protection Dogs, Placed by Application

A personal protection dog is not a guard dog that lives in a yard. It is a finished working dog that lives with you, travels with you, and reads the room before you do. Priority 1 Canine places personal protection dogs with executives, athletes, family offices, and private households across the United States.

What a Priority 1 personal protection dog does

Composed by default. Decisive when required. Our dogs are finished in real homes, vehicles, private terminals, and public spaces before placement. They hold obedience under noise and crowds, recognize a threat before it becomes one, and come off the bite on command every time.

Who we place them with

Executives and principals who travel. Families with children and staff. Estates with seasonal absences. Public figures with exposure. Each dog is matched to one household, then delivered and integrated personally by Wade Morrell with lifetime support.

Breeds we place

German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Doberman, and Rottweiler, selected from proven working lines and tested for stable temperament before training begins. See dogs currently available for placement.

What a personal protection dog handles

Four scenarios come up in almost every consultation. A finished dog handles all four without you raising your voice.

The approach in a parking structure. You are walking to the car with your hands full. Someone closes distance faster than they should. The dog moves between you and them, holds its ground, and barks on command. Most encounters end there. If one does not, the dog engages on your word and releases on your word.

The knock at the door at night. The dog is at the door before you are. Quiet, forward, and unmoved by a name spoken through the wood. You decide what happens next. The dog waits for that decision.

The hotel hallway, the lobby, the private terminal. Our dogs ride six hours in the back of a vehicle, walk through a terminal, and settle under a restaurant table. A dog that cannot do that is not a personal protection dog. It is a liability you have to leave at home.

The home invasion. Two people, forced entry, a plan. This is the scenario people buy for and hope never to use. A finished dog changes the math for an intruder in the first three seconds. Nobody with a plan wants to be the one the dog chooses.

What a personal protection dog is not

It is not a guard dog. A guard dog holds a yard or a gate and treats everyone outside its circle as a problem. A personal protection dog goes where you go and treats the public as neutral until you or a threat says otherwise. If you need a perimeter covered, see guard dogs for sale.

It is not a sport dog with a title. A dog that bites a padded sleeve on a field is proving drive, not judgment. We buy titled dogs and then spend months taking the sport out of them so the dog reads people instead of equipment.

It is not a puppy with potential. Potential is a bet. A $150,000 placement is a finished adult, two to four years old, with its temperament already proven in homes, vehicles, and crowds. Read how we select dogs before you talk to anyone selling you a bloodline.

It is not an alarm with teeth. An alarm tells you something happened. The dog stops it from happening, then goes back to lying on the floor beside your desk.

Breed fit for personal protection, ranked by who places them

We place five breeds. The right one depends on how you live, not on which one looks the part.

1. German Shepherd. The default for principals who travel. Visible deterrent, stable in public, tolerant of drivers and staff coming and going. Most of our executive placements are German Shepherds.

2. Doberman. The most discreet option. Short coat, settles in offices and apartments, bonds hard to one person. Chosen by principals who do not want a dog that looks like a police dog.

3. Dutch Shepherd. Malinois ability with a steadier off switch. A strong choice when one dog has to cover the house and the principal.

4. Belgian Malinois. For a handler who wants the fastest dog in the building and will give it work every day. Not for a household that wants the dog to disappear between incidents.

5. Rottweiler. Mass and presence. Slower to fire, hard to move once it does. Fits a home and estate role better than daily travel.

A company that sells one or two breeds will tell you its breed fits every home. A five breed company can tell you the truth: the dog should fit the home, not the other way around. See what is available now.

Who buys a personal protection dog

Placements are $150,000. Twelve a year. Those two numbers tell you who buys.

The founder or executive whose face is public and whose schedule is predictable. The family office protecting a principal who refuses a security detail but will accept a dog. The athlete or entertainer whose home address has been posted. The physician, attorney, or judge who has been threatened by name. The estate with seasonal absences and staff who need something on site that never takes a day off.

Most of our clients already have cameras, alarms, and in some cases armed staff. The dog is the layer that is always awake, always with you, and never asks for a raise. Wade Morrell selects every dog, delivers it himself, and stays in your home until the dog is working. 26 years of United States law enforcement and military service stand behind every placement, and the program was featured on ABC's Shark Tank. How Priority 1 Canine Compares

Every protection dog company says finished, trained, and lifetime support. Three questions sort the field. Where did the dog live before you? Priority 1 dogs are finished in American homes, around children, staff, and guests. Who delivers it? Wade Morrell, in person, and he stays until the dog is working in your house. What does it cost? $150,000, in writing, on this page.

Canine Protection International (CPI) places German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois only, every dog born in Europe, and publishes no price. Scott's K9 publishes no price and runs a two day handler course. Israel Protection K9 raises its dogs outside Jerusalem, flies them in, and publishes $100,000 to $250,000. Svalinn breeds its own shepherd crosses on a Montana ranch and publishes no price on its site; CNBC reported $175,000 a dog on January 14, 2026. Personal Protection Dog FAQs

How much does a personal protection dog cost?

Placements are $150,000. That price reflects the dog’s training level, bloodline, and the protocols your household requires. EDWS integration is available as an added layer of security.

Can a personal protection dog travel with me?

Yes. Our dogs are acclimated to vehicles, private aviation, hotels, offices, and restaurants before placement. Travel protocols are part of the in-home integration.

Is a personal protection dog safe around my children?

Yes. Every Priority 1 canine is finished around children, staff, and guests, and is evaluated with families before placement so it can tell the difference between daily life and a real threat.

How long does placement take?

It starts with a private consultation with Wade Morrell. If a current dog fits your household, delivery and in-home integration follow. If no dog meets the standard for your home, we wait rather than force a placement.

How does Priority 1 Canine compare to CPI, Scott's K9, Israel Protection K9, and Svalinn?

Priority 1 Canine places finished adult dogs raised in American homes, delivered and integrated by Wade Morrell himself, at a published price of $150,000. Canine Protection International (CPI) places German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois only, states that every dog is born in Europe, and publishes no price. Scott's K9 and Svalinn publish no price. Israel Protection K9 raises its dogs outside Jerusalem and flies them in, with a published range of $100,000 to $250,000. We publish our price, we place five breeds, our founder delivers, and the dog has already lived in a home before it lives in yours.

Why does Priority 1 Canine have no Google reviews or client photos online?

Because priority 1 Canine is a security company, not a dog trainer with a storefront. Wade Morrell has served 26 years in law enforcement and still serves, and has been commended by U.S. Army Special Forces for training their teams. Our clients include family members of a presidential cabinet member, members of a royal family, NFL, MLB, and PGA players, billionaires, and families who simply want to feel safe. Security clients do not post reviews, and we do not post their names, faces, homes, or dogs. References are given privately, by introduction, when a placement is being considered. Ask Wade.

What Delivery Looks Like: Three Days at Your Home

A protection dog is only as good as the handoff. Wade Morrell delivers every Priority 1 Canine dog himself and works at your home for three full days, with a fourth day if your family needs it. The dog stays with your family from the first night.

Day 1: Your home, your dog, your family. Wade walks the house and grounds, sets up equipment, and covers care: feeding, grooming, and monthly and yearly vet care. Your family meets the dog with low pressure time, a walk and a ball. Then three rounds of obedience: Wade demonstrates, then your family works the dog, with questions answered between every round. The dog sleeps at your home that night.

Day 2: Protection outside. Obedience first. Then protection training: the command to engage and stopping a threat in front of you, with recovery time and questions between rounds. After lunch the dog learns your property: every entry and exit, a perimeter threat assessment, and a perimeter protection scenario on your own grounds.

Day 3: Protection inside. Interior protection at the entry and exit points of your residence, three rounds. Then searching and clearing the house, outside to inside, twice. The day ends with vehicle protection scenarios, because a threat does not only come to the front door.

Day 4, if needed. If your family needs more time, Wade stays. The job is finished when the dog is integrated, not when the schedule ends.

That is part of what $150,000 covers, and lifetime support starts the day Wade leaves. Talk to Wade about your home.
